Accessibility Statement
Our Commitment to Digital Inclusion
AaronBelkar Art is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for all users, including those with disabilities. We strive to provide an inclusive and welcoming online experience for our international customer base across Israel, the UK, the US, Australia, the EU, and beyond.
We are continually improving the user experience for everyone and apply the relevant accessibility standards to our website.
Accessibility Standards Applied
To guide our efforts and ensure broad compliance, this website aims to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA.
Furthermore, as a business based in Jerusalem, Israel, our commitment ensures adherence to the requirements of the Israeli Standard (IS) 5568, which is aligned with the WCAG 2.1 Level AA standard.
Conformance Status and Assessment
The AaronBelkar Art website is currently assessed as Partially Conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA.
- Partially Conformant means that some parts of the content do not yet fully conform to the accessibility standard.
- Assessment Methodology: This conformance status is based on an internal self-assessment, including manual testing of keyboard navigation, automated color contrast checks, and general structure review. We have not yet completed a formal, independent third-party audit to verify full compliance.
Features Implemented to Date
We have taken the following steps to improve and maintain accessibility on our WordPress platform:
- Alternative Text (Alt Text): All images, including artworks, contain alternative text descriptions to convey their content or purpose to screen reader users.
- Keyboard Navigation: All interactive elements and content are accessible and fully operable using only a keyboard (Tab, Enter, and arrow keys).
- Color Contrast: Text and background color contrast ratios meet or exceed WCAG Level AA requirements to ensure readability.
- Text Resizing: Users can adjust the text size using their browser settings without loss of content or functionality.
- Semantic Structure: Content utilizes proper headings and list structures to ensure that assistive technologies can correctly parse the page structure.
Known Limitations and Remediation Roadmap
While we strive for Level AA compliance, we acknowledge the following known limitations that we are actively working to address:
- Reliance on Third-Party Accessibility Add-on (Overlay): We currently utilize a WordPress accessibility add-on. Please be advised that these automated tools can sometimes conflict with users’ existing, sophisticated assistive technologies (such as NVDA or JAWS screen readers), potentially creating barriers instead of removing them.
- Remediation Plan: We are developing a strategy for the permanent removal of this add-on and are shifting resources toward native, code-level remediation to ensure reliable, long-term accessibility that does not interfere with users’ preferred tools.
- Depth of Artwork Visual Descriptions: For complex or abstract art pieces, the basic Alt Text provided may not convey the full context, composition, mood, or artistic detail that a sighted user experiences.
- Remediation Plan: We have begun a dedicated project to create and publish detailed visual descriptions for high-value and complex artworks, supplementing the existing Alt Text to provide a more equitable experience.
- Third-Party Content: AaronBelkar Art may include links to external, third-party platforms (e.g., payment gateways or shipping trackers). We cannot guarantee the accessibility standards of these external websites.
